Number of houses in Tredagh View broken into last week

Gardai in Drogheda are investigat­ing a number of burglaries in the Tredagh View estate over the past week.

The first incident happened on Friday, July 21st when a house in the estate was broken into and two handbags were stolen.

Entry to the property was gained through the front door.

The handbags were later recovered in a neighbouri­ng garden. Also on the 21st, a woman was in bed at her home in Tredagh View when she heard a bang at about 4am but put the noise down to the weather.

Sometime later, shortly before 6am, she head a dog barking and came downstairs to find her handbag gone and her cigarettes stolen.

Both the front door and the front gate were open but neither of them were damaged.

The keys to a car, a Nissan Micra, were also stolen but the car itself was not taken from the property.

On Monday, July 24th there was another attempted breakin to a house in the Tredagh View Estate at around 1am in the morning.

A resident in the house was woken after hearing a loud noise. When the woman went to investigat­e she discovered two men trying to gain entry to the house. The pair were using a chisel to try and force the window but fled the scene after they were disturbed by the owner of the property.

Meanwhile, gardaí are also investigat­ing an incident of criminal damage at a property at Featherbed Lane on July 20th at 3.40pm

when an apartment window was smashed by a stone. A number of youths were seen in the vicinity.
