Sharon emulates Queen Bee as parody goes viral
SHARON Kellaway made headlines around the world with her parody of Beyonce’s twin photoshoot and there was no one more surprised by the international storm it created than her husband Peter, who is orginally from Drogheda.
Since Sharon first posted the picture on her Facebook page last Friday, it has gone viral with millions of views and has been featured on tv, radio and in print across the globe in Canada, America, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and France.
‘I just thought it would be funny to do initially, I never thought it would go any further than that it wasn’t planned at all,’ Sharon told the Drogheda Independent. ‘I was there on Friday afternoon and up came Bey’s picture so I reposted it and said sure didn’t I look like this when I had my twins.’
Sharon said she grabbed a pink blanket and her five month old twins, Zoe and Senan, and posed in the garden while her six-year-old daughter Megan took the picture. ‘ The legs weren’t shaved, the grass wasn’t cut and the babies nappies were bulging, they needed changing. I sent it on to Peter as a collage for a laugh and I put it on Facebook. Then I sent it to Sieand Thornton in Canada. She’s one of my best friends, she tweeted it all over the place and within an hour it was going nuts. I collected Peter from work and I saiid to him: ‘I think it’s gone viral’. My phone was hopping all evening and I didn’t get to bed until 1am.’ Of her newfound fame and celebrity, Sharon says: ‘I’m just a regular Joe Soap, a house Mum with five kids. I don’t do anything special. I’ve done six or seven radio interviews and some tv interviews as well. I’m not sure they know what to make of the Cork accent!’
Sharon said Peter, who she met 15 years ago while visiting her uncle in Drogheda, and their kids who also include Darragh (9), Hollie (7) aren’t phased by all the attention. ‘I’m a bit of a nut job sometimes so I don’t think they were too surpirsed. My motherin-law Maidie was on holidays at the time so she couldn’t believe it when she heard!’
