-

LISTOKE 1777 was honoured with a top international accolade last week as it was named a ‘Master Gin’ in The Gin Masters 2017.

The popular local gin was up against stiff competition with 178 brands from around the world entered in the Premium Gin category of this years competition.

An expert panel of 16 judges gathered in London to blind taste the entrants which were divided by price and variety.

Listoke 1777 was launched in January this year and is produced at the purpose built artisan distillery at Listoke where the owners also run a ‘Gin School’.

The distillery at Listoke on the Ballymakenny Road is located in a 200 year old stable where, until recently Barn owls also lived.

It is within these historical walls that the owners lovingly distil, blend, bottle, label and seal, by hand, their small batch Listoke 1777 gin.

The team spent a number of months developing and refining the taste and flavour of Listoke 1777 gin.

From a modest kitchen experimentation to a more extaustive exploration in the distillery, it took some time to finally agree on the special blend of ingredients. The recipe includes a unique combination of traditional and inspiring botanicals growing both in the wild and in the Edwardian walled gardens at Listoke estate. since opening last August the gin school has proved to be hugely popular also.
