Jen’s support service for new parents and parents-to-be in area

-

New parents and parents-to-be have a wonderful new support service available to them in Drogheda and the surrounding areas. The overall aim of the new service is to improve outcomes for families by supporting them following the birth of a newborn.

The service comes via Jennifer Campbell, a native of Drogheda who has spent much of the past 20 years overseas. Jennifer is a Babywearing Consultant, Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and is interested in family bonds, perinatal and infant mental health and supporting breastfeeding in today’s society.

Inspired by her own journey through motherhood, the thriving babywearing community in Sheffield, her work with entrepreneurial and not for profit organisations in Australia and a desire to create positive change in society, Jennifer says: “So many new parents feel overwhelmed and unsupported especially in the early days following birth...sometimes referred to as postnatal, postpartum or the fourth trimester. Sometimes what they need is encouragement and help and sometimes the over burdened health system can’t provide the vital support services that families need.”

Jen currently runs the private service under the name Bear and Bundle but would also like to work collaboratively within the community to understand the needs of families, signpost where help is available, hold workshops, information sessions and promote peer to peer support.

Jen says she has received feedback that there is a real need for services such as postpartum support in the area and so hopes that her service can be great value to new parents. Jen is currently taking on new families during the postpartum period, offers consultations and workshops to learn how to safely and comfortably carry your baby or child and offers informational sessions on the postpartum period too.
