NAOMH MONINE

-

JUVENILE training continues on Saturday afternoon at the Fairgreen from 2pm to 3pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying.

The club moved a step nearer to having their own pitch when it was confirmed last week that the club have submitted a planning application with the Louth County Council for two playing pitches on the land in Toberona. Moninne have had access to this area of land for several years which initially saw the club setting up the voluntary contribution scheme known as the ‘Field Heros’ which will go a long way to seeing this dream finally become a reality. A decision on the planning application is expected by the 7th of September .

The Clans pitch was the venue on Saturday evening for the inaugural ‘Patsy Mulholland Masters Hurling Shield’ match remembering the clubs president whose first anniversary occurred this week. Players from all the clubs in the county (over 40), some fit and some not so fit, took part in a very enjoyable game with refreshments served in the clubhouse after the game.

The senior team drew their latest game in the Ulster Tain League away to Sean Treacy’s of Lurgan on Tuesday July 7 on a scoreline of 3-16 to 2-19. The Moninne scorers were Ronan Geoghegan (0-8), John Martin (1-4), Darren O Hanrahan (1-2), Feidhelm Joyce (1-0), Stephen Rafferty (0-2). The team’s next fixture in the Tain League is against Killeavy on a date TBC.

On the same night our U10 team took part in an entertaining three team blitz in the Fairgreen playing games against Knockbridge ‘A’ and St Fechins. The Moninne panel on the night was Peter Whyte Begley, Josh Horwell, Dillon Ward, Tiernan Bradley, Grace Cairns, Maeve O Hora, Aaron Cassidy Rogers, Ryan Heaney, Luke Haughey, Cathal Maguire, Ciaran Maguire, Evan Corrigan, Mark Byrne.

The U12 team are awaiting confirmation of a refixture this Tuesday night when they are down to travel to Knockbridge to take on the home team at 6.30pm.

The club held a bag packing fundraiser at the Ard Easmuinn branch of Dunnes Stores last Saturday and would like to thank everyone that helped out with the collection on the day.

The club have new hurleys sizes 22’’ to 36’’ for sale as well as new helmets small, medium and large. Contact Maurice Murphy 0871219251.

This year’s Naomh Moninne Hurling Cul Camp will again take place in Dowdallshill from next Monday July 31 to Friday August 4 and the cost of the camp is €60.
