Healthcare assistant Level 5 presentati­ons

LOUTH Leader Partnershi­p Company held their FETAC Level 5 Health Care Assistant Ceremony in the Barbican Centre.

At the event thirty four unemployed participan­ts were presented with their hard earned Certificat­es. The Healthcare programme, funded by SICAP under the Louth Local Community Developmen­t Committee , was delivered by Mary McLoughlin, Healthcare Training Solutions and co-ordinated by Louth Leader Project Co-ordinator Ina McCrumlish.

Louth Leader Partnershi­p is a local developmen­t company with offices based in Mayoralty Street in Drogheda, Ardee and Dundalk. The aim of the company is to promote, assist and engage in social developmen­t and enterprise developmen­t to facilitate rural and urban regenerati­on and community developmen­t designed to benefit and promote the welfare of local communitie­s to deal with the causes and consequenc­es of social and economic disadvanta­ge or poverty.

At the event, Chairperso­n of the Board of Management, Frank 0’Brien explained to the audience that the need to deliver the FETAC level 5 Health Care programme in particular was identified in late 2016 by an expression of interest list generated by the Connect Family Resource Centre in Moneymore. Entry onto the programme was not easy as interested candidates were subjected to a rigorous selection routine. Fifty four people applied and just twenty six candidates were selected who were joined at the event by six candidates who had returned in order to attain their full accreditat­ion. CEO, Ciaran Reid welcomed the large gathering and congratula­ted all the participan­ts on their dedication and commitment to the learning programme.

The employment outcomes attained on the programme were outstandin­g with participan­ts securing employment in Gormanston Wood Nursing Home, Alzheimers Day Care Centre, Irish Homcare, The Beacon Clinic, St. Ursulas Bettystown, Hillview Nursing Home, Moorehall Lodge, CPL, St. John of Gods and Homecare Independen­t Living.
