BALTRAY SUMMER FAIR

Plans are well underway for the second Baltray & District Residents Association Village Summer Fair in conjunction with the 19th Pub which will be held on the Village Green on Sunday August 6th from 2pm - 6pm. A fun filled day is planned and events and stalls confirmed so far include Bric- a- Brac, Big Tree Nurseries, Fairy Village, Ice Cream Stall, Home Produce, DRUMMOND HOUSE GARLIC, DCD Handmade Cards & Gifts, Face Painting, Live Music, Tea & Cake Stall, Traditional Games, BAR-B-QUE, Wooden Craft Stall, Book Stall and a Raffle. Residents are being invited to donate any homemade goods such as breads, cakes and jams for the cake stall, or crafts, books or brica-brac for sale.

All proceeds will go towards the general upkeep of the village and grass cutting which helps to keep the village looking pretty.

As this will be the Residents Association main fundraising event this year we are asking for all to contribute generously with your time and items for sale and raffle prizes. Your support is essential in continuing to maintain our beautiful village.

The 19th Pub will help make this occasion memorable with music, entertainment and dancing. So save the date and join the Baltray & District Residents Association for fun and games on this bank holiday weekend.

Last year’s fair was only possible because of the generous local support received from donations and hands on deck. If everyone can do a little we can all lean back into the day and enjoy a great community event. If you can give an hour of your time to help with the event or you wish to make a donation please contact Maria Murphy - Chairperson on 087-6596255. Thank you to each and every one of you for your continued support. It is much appreciated.

REFRESHMENTS AFTER MASS.

What was described as a “Simple Gesture” but definitely a good one, the decision to have refreshments after 11am Mass last Sunday week deserves a lot of praise.

Well done to Fr. Aidan and the Parish Pastoral Council for organising it all and it was very enjoyable. The weather could not have been any better and to see people enjoying a chat and refreshments on the Parochial House Lawn was certainly great for the soul. Hopefully this was not a once off.

AN-GRIANAN GARDEN CENTRE OPEN.

Nice to see that the Garden Centre at An-Grianan has reopened for business. It now goes under the trading name of Kayleigh O’Connor Gardens at An-Grianan and opened last Friday fortnight coinciding with the ICA Garden Party. ICA President Marie O’ Toole was on hand to cut the ribbon. Kayleigh O’Connor has a wealth of horticultural knowledge having studied at Drogheda Institute of Further Education and along with her Mum Suzanne has a lot of plans and ideas to to transform the Garden Centre.

A love of gardening is the driving force behind this venture and already the Garden Centre has everything the committed gardener needs not to mention a terraced area where you can enjoy tea or coffee. May we wish them every success with the Garden Centre which no doubt will keep them busy.

LOUTH ROSE AT FORGE FIELD.

Things were blooming at Forge Field Farm Shop last Thursday evening as the Louth Representative in the International Rose of Tralee Festival Aoife Heffron made an appearance. She was there along with representatives from Tipperary Crystal who are sponsoring the Festival. A very enjoyable evening was reported. May we wish Aoife every success in the 2018 International Rose of Tralee Festival and that she has a fabulous experience in the Kingdom.
