NEW HOUSES

A Planning applicatio­n for more than 200 houses, along with a shop and associated services to be erected in the vicinity of the old St. Patrick`s G.F.C field and the old site of the Community Centre, off the Gormanstow­n Road, has been launched with Meath County Council.

The planning applicatio­n also includes a link road from the area of the City North Hotel to the Stamullen Road. The details of this proposal can be seen in full on the Planning section of the Meath Co. Council website.

FRIENDS OF MOSNEY.

Mosney is a Centre of independen­t living where over 700 residents of 35 different nationalal­ities reside.One of the recommenda­tions of a Working Group Report of June 2015 was for every Accomadati­on Centre to encourage and facilitate links with the local community.

A `Friends of the Centre` group is recommende­d, consisting of residents, local services and community/voluntary groups. To formallyt launch the `Friends of the Centre` group, organisati­ons/groups are invited to an Open day at the centre from 2 to 5pm this coming Wednesday, July 26th.

HERITAGE WEEK WALK

Date for you diary. Community Historian Brendan Matthews will present a special Walk n Talk Historical & Archaeolog­ical Tour of the Dale Valley area of Drogheda on Sunday August 20th from 2 until 4pm.

The Dale area of Drogheda is a real hidden gem of both the built and natural heritage of this fascinatin­g place; like a rural setting within an urban town, the Dale lies with the townland of Lagavooree­n in the Parish of St. Marys and contains a wealth of the hidden gems that is part of Droghedas heritage and historical past. Meeting at the Cenotaph (Celtic Cross) monument at the bottom of Mary St. at 2pm, the tour will take about 2 hours and suitable clothing and footwear should be worn on the day.This event is part of the National Heritage Week and is run in associatio­n with the heritage Council of Ireland and the Old Drogheda Society and is free of charge.
