Knockbrack homes were targeted in burglary spree

Three houses in the Knockbrack area were targeted during a spate of burglaries and break-ins throughout the town last week.

The first incident happened on Wednesday, July 26th when a house in Knockbrack Close was broken into.

A number of items were stolen from the property, including the keys to the car, a 10 registered Ford Focus, during the breakin which happened sometime between 10.30pm and the early hours of the following morning.

The car was stolen and was later discovered on fire in Beechwood Avenue at 5am on the 27th.

On Saturday, July 29th sometime between midnight and 7am, a house at Knockbrack Downs was entered and a handbag and a number of items contained in it were taken along with the keys of a black Ford Focus.

Two children’s bikes, one red in the colour and the other purple and pink, were also stolen.

The car was stolen from outside the property but was later recovered abandoned in Ballsgrove at around 8.50am.

On the same date, a second property in Knockbrack Downs was entered sometime between 4.30am and 6am.

A handbag containing a number of items as well as the keys to the family car were stolen.

The car was taken and was later found burned out in Rathmullen Park at around 6.30am.

Drogheda Fire Brigade were called to extinguish the blaze. According to local reports, the family who owned the car were due to go on holidays the following day and their passports were in the vehicle which was burned out.

On Tuesday, July 25th sometime between 10am and 10.40am a house on Hand Street was broken into and a small quantity of jewellery was stolen from the property.

Also on the 25th, sometime between 9.30am and 9.30pm, a house in Pearse Park was broken into and again a quantity of gold jewellery was taken.
