Plastic bottles back at bring banks

LOUTH County Council has announced the reopening of the bring banks for plastic bottles in the Drogheda area to facilitate members of the public that wish to dispose of water bottles purchased during the recent water shortage. THE bring banks will be accepting plastic bottles until Saturday, 5th August in Drogheda, Clogherhead and Termonfeckin.

The move has now prompted calls to keep the recycling bins open to encourage people to recycle their plastics. Cllr Joanna Byrne says it’s a vital service.

“In the short period of time since this service was axed there has been a significant rise in the levels of illegal dumping,’ she added.

Cllr Byrne has vowed she will continue to pursue this request to reopen the bins at any and every given opportunity.
