Jimmy Tully plants the first tree in Bettystown plan
JANUARY 1977: Laytown and Bettystown Development Association’s tree planting project, which went into operation on December 6 with the ‘Minister for Local Government Mr. Jimmy Tully (inset), planting the first tree, has now been completed.
The 296 trees were planted by local school children, the Eastern Regional Tourism Organisation, association members and contractors.
And a spokesman for the committee has issued thanks to Murdocks of Drogheda, who supplied and delivered the stakes for the trees free of charge.
