Hundreds turn out to see relic of Mother Teresa
HUNDREDS of locals turned out for a special night at the Dominican Church on Sunday.
The relic of Mother Teresa or Saint Teresa arrived as part of a three day celebration of the sacred sister, who did so much for the poor of India during her lifetime.
The ‘First Class’ relic has been doing a two month tour of Ireland, courtesy of the Knights of St Columbanus who attended Sunday’s evening ceremony with members of the ONE.
A large queue formed after the mass to venerate at the relic of Mother Teresa, described by Fr Jim Donleavy as ‘as a great woman and a great saint.’
He said she showed the ultimate example of the Christian way of life and worked with the ‘poorest of the poor.’
Crowds began to flock to the Dominican on Sunday afternoon and the relic will be at the church until 4pm on Tuesday when it moves to Dundalk.
The Dominicans said they were very proud to host the relic and were glad to see such large crowds turn out over the three days.
