Get to Ennis and see how the 2017 Fleadh operates

- The Fleadh crowds....coming to Drogheda in 2018.

IF YOU want to see how a Fleadh Cheoil operates - get to Ennis for a day on August 18-19th.

Padraic Kierans, part of Drogheda’s Fleadh team, is encouraging local people, especially business owners, to get to Clare this month to experience the Fleadh for themselves. “If you are in business in Drogheda, be it B&B, Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, Café or whatever – you need to get to Ennis to witness the opportunities and the pitfalls.”

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music language song and dance. Fáilte Ireland estimates that over 350,000 visitors attend Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann each year, making it a huge event for the host town.

And Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is coming to Drogheda in 2018!

The early part of the week features young people taking part in master classes with world-class musicians. The weekend however is where it gets really, really busy. From Friday to Sunday hundreds of thousands of visitors arrive from all over the world to take part in competitions and to enjoy gigs, ceoil agus craic all over town.

“The event really is larger than you can imagine and a trip to Ennis a must” Padraic concluded. “With Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann taking place in Drogheda next year (12-20th August) it’s vital for everyone to understand this event so that Drogheda can be really well prepared. This is the largest event ever to be hosted in the town and it’s an amazing opportunity to promote Drogheda and the Boyne Valley as a destination for visitors to return to again and again. See you at the Fleadh down in Ennis!”
