Lyndance group invite you to tea at the City North

-

THE Lyndance Academy hosts a novel tea party fundraiser at City North on August 26th at which they’ll show off their incredible talent.

The Lyndance Academy was formed in Donaghmede, Dublin in 1980 and was the brainchild of Linda O’Connor (nee Judge) and the next 20 years saw children and teenagers reveling in the spotlight on stage in Dublin. The academy moved to Drogheda in 2000 and has gone from strength to strength.

Lyndance Academy provides a great space for boys and girls to develop a love of Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Commercial & Jazz.

Kym, Linda and their team of teachers Shelly, Niamh, Gavin and Nathan are constantly educating themselves in their specific styles to be able to give the dancers of Lyndance the very best in dance.

Many of these dancers learn how to lead in musical theatre or work together as a team, competing in many competitions. Musicals such as Chicago, Annie, Oliver, Cabaret, Matilda & Grease have been performed over the past years and this year for the first time the Musical Grease ran for 2 days (3 showings) in The Driochead Art Centre. Dancers have competed in competitions such as Destination Dance, VAD & WLDF and have come home reaping rewards.

As part of their summer camp this year, Linda came up with an idea to give her time free of charge on a Tuesday night to teach the older girls how to put together and organize an event. This event is a fundraiser and is being organized by dancers aged from 12yrs old upwards.

This fundraiser event is on 26th August in City North 2-6pm and it is going to be an Afternoon Tea Party where the dancers will put on a dance extravaganza while guests sit back and enjoy the delicious delights of afternoon tea. These talented and committed dancers will range from the age of 3-17years old. All proceeds for this event and raffle will go towards much needed new equipment and portable mirrors for their dance studio in Mayoralty Street, Drogheda.

Tickets will cost €20 for adults (16 years & over) €10 for under 16’s. Admission is by tickets only. These tickets will be on sale in Lyndance Academy from Tuesday 8th August or you can contact Shelly on 086-3090710.
