New dental clinic will open in October

-

THE new five surgery dental clinic for Drogheda is expected to open to the public by October this year.

The clinic, which was formerly situated at Ballsgrove Dental Clinic, is being relocated to a new five surgery unit in Drogheda which is being built at the Boyne Centre in Droghedas.

The new clinic has been designed to upgrade and replace the units in Ballsgrove and the Haymarket.

The new clinic will initially have up to eight and eventually ten dental staff, according to the Chief Officer Midlands Louth Meath CHO Pat Bennett.

He was responding to a written question from local TD Fergus O’Dowd who asked the Minister for Health the estimated opening date for the clinic, the services that will be available, the cost to date of renovation and the projected completion costs as well as the projected number of staff that will be employed in the clinic.

Mr Bennett said a full range of dental services will be supplied for children in the target school classes and for children and adults with special needs.

He said it is expected the new clinic will be operational by late October 2017.

The centre will also provide civil registration services such as births, deaths, and marriages registration, civil ceremonies and immigration checks. In 2016 dental services were forced to close in the Haymarket on Health & Safety issues and Ballsgrove Heath Centre following fire damage.
