ONE of the most spectacular events to take place in the region in recent years comes to Laytown and Bettystown beach in September.

The 52nd European Sandyachting Championships will run from September 10-15th. The Best Sandyacht pilots in Europe who have qualified to represent their countries will compete against each other along the Meath Coastline to find the European Champion.

During the event based at Laytown, 12 European titles will be decided during this exiting and spectacular week long sporting event on the beaches of Co.Meath.

Spectators are welcome to come along and view this unique event where competitors from Europe and further afield will display their skills in piloting these wind powered craft. Ireland last hosted this event in 1983.
