Liam lands silver medal at Celtic Games

LIAM Connaughto­n’s great season with the javelin continued when the Dunleer AC youngster claimed a silver medal at the Celtic Games.

Connaughto­n’s best throw was a huge 59.14m and that was good enough to finish in second place.

The Dunleer club were also well represente­d at the Glenmore AC-promoted Carlingfor­d 5k on Friday night, when Darragh Greene ran a great race and sprinted home to finish third in a time of 15:03. Helen Cheshire was first of the club’s ladies over the line in 23:54 - eighth in her category and 266th overall.

Dunleer’s other finishers in the well-supported race were as follows: 70th Patrick Connolly 18:25, 83rd Padraig O’Mahoney 18:41, 91st Mark Carroll 18:52, 203rd Paul Breagy 21:48, 284th Ian Pat Carroll 24:10, 305th Denise Gallagher 25:14, 389th Emma Kiernan 29:32, 413th Louise Carroll 31:07.
