Youth brandishing knife on Laurence Street is arrested
Gardaí were called to Laurence Street last Saturday morning after several reports of a youth brandishing a knife on the busy main street.
The incident happened at around 9.30am and gardaí attended the scene after receiving severals calls from concerned members of the public.
When they arrived on Laurence Street a member of the public had already removed the knife from the youth.
The 17-year-old was subsequently arrested and will be dealt with under the National Juvenile Scheme.
Meanwhile, a number of cars in the local area were broken into over the past week.
On Sunday, a resident of Bachelors Lane returned home at around 6pm to find the rear passenger window of his car had been smashed. Nothing was taken. A car was broken into at Port Beach on Thursday, August 10th and a navy handbag was stolen. Also on Thursday, a white transit van parked at Glanbia on the Dublin Road was broken into and a number of power tools were stolen.
