TIME FOR ACTION ON SOCCER PITCH

-

IT would be great to see something done with the former Grove Rangers pitch in Rathmullen.

It’s in a poor state at the moment, overgrown and with dumping taking place in the vicinity.

As far as I know, efforts have been made to sort out something in relation to the facility with the council, but it remains in limbo.

Right beside it is an all-weather surface that has also seen better days and could do with a revamp.

The Grove pitch has produced some great players down the years and it is sad to see the state of it.

The club was founded back in 1970 and in recent times have been using the former Abbey pitch at Mell.

Hopefully, in the coming weeks, some kind of agreement can be worked on to get the Rathmullen pitch back in action.

It looks even worse when you consider the surface that’s just the far side of the fence at Drogheda Boys.

They have big plans for a clubhouse and pitch improvements.

Having this whole area as a complex with the upgraded all weather, would be terrific.
