impressive, and stamped them as deserved winners of the title.

The Phoenix Cup Competition at Marian Park, Drogheda, was continued at the Sportsfield over the past two Sunday nights when Monasterboice by virtue of a decisive two points victory over Stamullen, qualified to meet St. Mary’s in the semi-final.

The winners will meet St. Peter’s, who qualified for the final with a convincing victory over Clogherhead on Sunday last. St. Peter’s found it hard to field a team and, in fact, started the game with thirteen men. They were on the defensive in the early stages but, with the arrival of two extra players to complete the team they gradually got on top and ran out winners on the score 3-8 to 2-6.

Best for the winners were M. Mooney, A Walker, M. Rossiter, A. Cooney, J. Hanratty, M. Kealy, M. Lynch and F. Taaffe (all of whose names figured on the scorers’ list), while P. Boyle in goals brought off many fine saves. . For Clogherhead, C. Smith, V. McGlew, D. Dunne, A. McQuillan and P. Rafferty were best.
