Glyde too good

-

Glyde Rgrs 0-12 Stabannon P 2-1

GLYDE Rangers proved too strong for a disappointing Stabannon side who took a full hour to register their first point of the game.

Trevor O’Brien was in fine form for Glyde, scoring six points for the Tallanstown men as they booked their place in this year’s Anglo Printers Junior Football semi-finals.

It was a strange first half, with Glyde enjoying the majority of possession but finding themselves behind for large periods thanks to some wasteful shooting, coupled with Stabannon scoring two goals from their only two attacks of the half.

Glyde were a couple of points up early on thanks to scores from Trevor O’Brien and Barry Sharkey, but Stabannon took the lead on ten minutes following a mistake by Glyde defender Cian Sheridan. Sheridan gave the ball away to David Cluskey who found Dean Lynch in space and the full forward made no mistake as he blasted home from close range.

Niall Sharkey levelled the game with an excellent point from distance but once more the Glyde defence were exposed as David Cluskey beat his man down the right before setting up Dean Lynch for his second goal of the game.
