For Stabannon

of the goal but did manage two late scores from Barry and Niall Sharkey to level the match at 0-6 to 2-0 at the break. Amazingly Stabannon were level despite having just two efforts on goal in the opening half.

The game became very scrappy in the second half, with Stabannon losing their discipline and Glyde profited from these indiscretions as Trevor O’Brien scored four frees in succession to put daylight between the sides.

Scores were proving hard to come by for Stabannon and any chance they had of salvaging anything from the game disappeared when Niall Cluskey received his marching orders following an altercation with Gavin Duffy.

Glyde wrapped up victory with two late points for Niall Sharkey and Ciaran Sheridan and despite a late free from Daniel Bannon this was not to be Stabannon’s day as Ollie McDonnell’s side marched on to the semi-finals following this five-point victory.

GLYDE: David Brennan, Fiachre Sheridan, Cian Sheridan, Gerard Farrell, Aaron Devlin, Mark O’Brian, Niall Sharkey 0-3; Ciaran Sheridan 0-1, Dion Conlon, Barry Sharkey 0-2, Conor Sheridan, Alan Brennan, Trevor O’Brien 0-6 (4f), Brian Duffy, Gavin Duffy. Sub: Peter Duffy for Gavin Duffy

ROCHE had 25 points to spare over Sean McDermott’s in their league encounter and it wasn’t much better for the Mountrush men on Saturday evening as they were humbled once more by the 2015 beaten JFC finalists.

The writing was on the wall inside the opening five minutes as Barry O’Hare and Kevin Callaghan combined on two occasions to set up Liam Dawe and then David Quigley for goals. With O’Hare kicking a free and Kevin McMahon pointing for Seans it was 2-1 to 0-1 at that early stage.

A sideline kick and a free from David O’Neill, to just a Callaghan point in reply, kept Seans just about in touch, but their cause became almost a lost one over the next 15 minutes as Roche hit seven scores in succession.

O’Hare hit four points during that spell and Callaghan, Gerry Murphy and Conor Carthy also registered, and Roche didn’t have to work too hard for many of those scores against a sluggish Seans rearguard.

At the other end the Ardee men did engineer three goal chances during that period, but none were taken and despite hitting the last two points of the half through Tony Kelly and Peter Osbourne they still trailed by 2-9 to 0-5 at the break.

If Seans retained any hope of clawing their way into the contest, the door was slammed shut and locked in the opening five minutes of the second half as a clinical Roche hit the first three scores - all of them goals.

Declan Carroll could have raised a green flag at the other end, but instead he fired wide and Callaghan then netted to open the floodgates.

Seans keeper Mark McEneaney made a fine save from David Quigley but was soon beaten for the fourth time as his finger-tips couldn’t prevent O’Hare’s effort from nestling in the net.

Dawe then slotted home with a beautifully judged effort, Carthy followed up with a point and it was a rout at this stage - 5-10 to 0-5 - with more than 20 minutes still remaining.

Lorcan Myles teed up Kelly for a Seans goal, a firmly struck effort that bounced in off the post, but
