Promotion on line as Mavericks try to outgun Cowboys

-

AFTER a long hard-hitting season, the Louth Mavericks go into Sunday’s IAFL1 Final with promotion on the line.

The Mavs are ready for one last battle and this game is a must-see as they go up against three-time National champions Craigavon Cowboys.

The Cowboys and Mavericks faced off against each other in April, with the Cowboys coming out on top in that encounter. Kickoff is at 4pm on Sunday at Dundalk RFC’s Mill Road grounds.

Before the Mavericks game there will be this year’s IAFL2 Final taking place and this sees Antrim Jets take on Meath Bulldogs at 1pm.

Speaking ahead of the Mavericks’ promotion decider, club chairman Aidan Maguire said: ‘This is the biggest game in our club’s short history.

‘We’re going to give it 150% on every play.

‘We’re up against a tough, physical, high-scoring team who are also vastly experienced, but we’ll not give up and we will fight ‘til the end.

‘The lads are prepared and have the will and are determined to succeed. I can’t wait.

‘It would be great if we can get a huge crowd down to support the lads and cheer us on. There’s gonna be a great atmosphere throughout the day.’

Sunday’s event has a family theme, with inflatable superslides, inflatable games, face-painters, ice cream vendors and music. Admission is free.
