DUNLEER MEN’S SHED

The Dunleer Men’s Shed held their annual collection in Dunleer in support of the Shed on Friday, August 4th, 2017. They had a good attendance of members of the Shed to assist with the collection on the day, which helps defray running cost during the year. They would like to thank the people of Dunleer and surrounding areas for their support and generosity of giving in support of the Men’s Shed.

Their next event is a BBQ on September 5th. “We have our own retired chef in the group who will ensure that the cooking is excellent. We also have a number of musicians and singers in the group which should prove to be a bit of Hooley in the Coach House at the back of the Market House in Dunleer.” It has proved to be a life line for several members of the group. You don’t have to be retired to join. If you have free time or are unemployed or just enjoy a bit of fun and lots of stories or perhaps if you are handy with your hands or are willing to learn or if you just want to sit and enjoy some tea or coffee in company with other men, then you can join us any Tuesday morning from 10am at the back of the Market House in Dunleer. You will receive a warm welcome.

ISPCC RECRUITMENT

The Louth/Meath branch of the ISPCC is recruiting for their Childline service and the next training course is due to start at the end of September. We recruit volunteers from all over the Louth and Meath area and are eager to add to our fantastic team. The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend an information evening (on one of a choice of evenings). This is an opportunity for people to come along and hear about the service, and what is involved in volunteering. They would also have a chance to hear from an already active volunteer.

The schedule for these is Monday, August 28th, Tuesday, September 5th and Thursday, September 14th. All sessions will begin at 6.30pm, and anyone interested is invited to attend. They will be held at their office in Drogheda (Distillery House, Dyer Street, Drogheda, Co Louth). Anyone interested in attending one of the information evenings should contact Danielle on 0419809964 or dlambe@ispcc.ie to book a place.
