Tommy Byrne gets a call up by the FAI amateur international selectors

The steady progress of local-born Tommy Byrne, who made the first team last February and starred against Bohemians in the second round of the F.A.I. Cup, was noted by the F.A.I amateur international selectors and he was selected on the Selected XI which played Bohemians in the international trial at Santry Stadium on Tuesday.

Trainer Gerry Martina was again honoured by being appointed trainer to the Selected XI and broke a holiday at Galway to take charge of the team. This is the fourth time in a year that the popular Drogheda trainer has been honoured.
