CEMENT’S €100K BOOST FOR DULEEK

COMPANY PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT BACKING FOR COMMUNITY CENTRE

-

IRISH Cement has committed €100,000 to help develop the new Duleek & Bellewstown District Community Facility.

The new community facility, Phase 1 of which is scheduled to be completed in August 2018, will provide local groups with state of the art facilities including a recreational hall, an all-weather playing area, 100m sprint track, a long jump area and a shot putt area. The development of the new community facility is necessary to meet the demands and needs of the rapidly expanding population in the area.

David O’Brien, Plant Manager of Irish Cement’s Platin Works said “Irish Cement is extremely proud of the bond it has built with the local community in the area. This investment is a further demonstration of our commitment to the local community and I am delighted to see the enthusiasm of the community behind this. In particular, I’d like to pay tribute to the great work being carried out by the Duleek, Bellewstown & District Community Facility steering committee. Their commitment and passion for the project will benefit generations to come.”

Oliver Cudden, Chairperson of the Duleek, Bellewstown & District Community Facility steering committee said “Irish Cement’s support is crucial to our plans to further improve community facilities and increase sports participation in a fast-growing area, and I would like, on behalf of the Steering Committee, to thank Irish Cement for their commitment to this project.’

Local Duleek-based Councillor Stephen McKee has also thanked Irish Cement for their support. ‘As a member of the Committee responsible for delivering this project, I’d like to thank the entire Platin team for not only their support for this project but their ongoing sponsorship of St. Mary’s GFC Donore, St. Colmcille’s and Duleek/Bellewstown GAA clubs. It makes sense as a relatively small community for our sporting clubs and community groups to actively co-operate to make the best use of available resources and funding and I pay tribute to all the Community groups in the area in reaching agreement to develop this project.
