VINTAGE SHOW ON THE SLANE ROAD

-

MEATH Vintage Group will hold their annual vintage ploughing and family fun day on August 27th at Townley Hall on the Slane – Drogheda road (N51), about 8 KMS east of Slane and 2 KMS west of the M1 roundabout.

This is a day for the expert to hone their skills for the national event in September, the beginner to learn the skill at the hands of masters. It’s also a day to test tractor and plough just to see how they perform.

‘We plan a children’s fun day consisting of old – fashioned games , races, face painting, a fun tug-of-war, absolutely no modern bouncy castles or computer games, just good physical fun.

‘We will have weight guessing, a fun dog show, e.g., best 6 legs, best turned out dog with token prizes for winners.

‘We are planning a glamorous granny contest if we have enough interest and a valuable raffle. As this is national Heritage Week , we are doing our best to preserve our wonderful heritage in the matter of old style farming and traditional ways,’ a spokesperson stated.

It will be a last chance at some fun before school starts.

The day will start about 12 noon and continue till evening with refreshments served.

Al proceeds will go to the Tullyallen Carers to enable them to continue with the great work they do for the more vulnerable members of society.
