Launch of Sandyacht Competition
THE launch of the European Sandyachting Championships 2017 took place in the north east last week.
The Championships, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors from all over the world, takes place in Bettystown and Laytown from September 10th to 15th.
THE European Championships 2017 (EC 2017) will mark the first major International Sandyacht competition to be held on the Island of Ireland since the 21st European Championships were held in Newcastle, County Down, Northern Ireland in 1983. This is the first time in the event’s 55 year history that the event will be held in the Republic of Ireland.
THE IPKSA is delighted to be organising the European Sandyacht Championship 2017 and to be bringing the The Federation Internationale de Sand et Landyachting FISLY family to our beaches to sail, have fun and enjoy all that the Boyne Valley Region and the island of Ireland has to offer. THE event will see 110 sandyacht pilots from 16 countries including (3 non-European countries). Pilots will range in age from 17 to 76 years. There will be over 100 people accompanying the pilots including officials.

THE venue for EC2017 will be the beaches of Laytown and Bettystown in County Meath. This is a beautiful 6km stretch of golden sandy beach that sits in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East.
