GPO appointed for St Colmcille’s club

-

After performing poorly in the defeat to LEINSTER GAA has appointed Niall Kane as Games Promotion Officer (GPO) to the St Colmcille’s club.

In his role, Niall will work in the promotion of gaelic games and the St Colmcille’s club within the east Meath community, and with a burgeoning young population and large and vibrant supporter base, the Simonstown man is sure to prove a big hit with the Seasiders.

Speaking in relation to the appointment, St Colmcille’s Minor chairman Mark Gallagher said is is a further progressive step in the evolution of St Colmcille’s club and he wished Niall every success in his new role.

‘We would like to thank the Games and Coaching staff in Leinster Council and Meath County Board in assisting with Niall’s appointment and the positive support for this initiative by our club chairman and executive committee,’ Gallagher said.

‘We look forward to reinforcing the fantastic work already achieved in our juvenile ranks by club coaches and mentors, through Niall’s new position.

‘Niall brings an infectious enthusiasm and energy to this role that is vital to improving our coaching structures, expanding our schools programme to second level and helping us to retain as many players as possible into adult football.’

A graduate of Carlow IT, Niall was one of the stars as Simonstown Gaels marched to a maiden Keegan Cup success last October. Moynalvey will be buoyed following their win over O’Mahonys and that victory has given them an excellent chance of a knockout spot. Blackhall showed improved form against St Colmcille’s in their quest to lift themselves out of the danger zone. However they will find it difficult to stop David McLoughlin and the O’Sullivan brothers in the Moynalvey attack. Verdict: Moynalvey
