THANKS

Monasterboice Tidy Towns and Tourism would like to thank everyone who supported the recent evening of Poetry, Music and Song

in Drumshallon Forge Community Hall. It was a most enjoyable event with recitals and songs.

The results of the Garden competition were also announced and the judge was very impressed with the high standard of gardeners in Monasterboice. The design, use of colour, variety of plants and organic methods of gardening produced beautiful gardens full of healthy plants. The non use of chemicals is a most positive hope for our future and should be encouraged with the younger generation.

Results: Flowering front garden: 1st prize Sean and Phylis McCormack, 2nd prize Mary and Paddy McQuillan, 3rd prize Dolores and Eamonn Kelly.

Vegetable patch : 1st prize Paddy and Mary Dunne, 2nd prize Eugene and Bernagette McQuillan, 3rd prize Barry and Elma Flood.

Congratulations and well done to all.

CEMETERY SUNDAY.

The annual service of Blessing of the Graves took place on Sunday August 13th. Once again both cemeteries were in excellent condition and it is a credit to those who maintain them during the year. While it can be a sombre or emotional time for us as we remember those who have gone before us, Fr. Aidan as usual made the ceremony a very special one. Thanks also to those who were involved in the liturgies and singing in both cemeteries and we cannot forget those who gave their land for parking, the stewards and members of An Garda Siochana who ensured there were no traffic problems on the day.
