HERITAGE DAY

Heritage Day will take place this Saturday 26th August in our Village Garden. Julianstown Tidy Towns invite you come and visit the garden and there will be plenty of people on hand to show you around. Lift refreshments will be served. We hope this will be a fun day in which to engage with nature. Bring your family and friends.

The famous Coole Swan Liqueur are sponsoring a ‘Coole Swan Afternoon Tea’ for Julianstown Tidy Towns. You may have heard recently that our locked container was broken into and some rather expensive equipment was stolen, so we hope to raise enough funds to replace this vital equipment for the upkeep of our beautiful award-winning garden. We hope you will come along and enjoy a very relaxing afternoon on Friday 1st September. If you have any unwanted gifts, perhaps you could bring them along for the raffle!

PUBLIC MEETING

On Monday 11th September at 8 p.m. there will be a public meeting in the Church of Ireland Parish rooms to discuss getting CCTV into the centre of our village. Sharon Keogan, Sgt. Dean Kearns, and a CCTV expert will be on hand to fill us in on all the details. This will also be an opportunity for people to sign up for our Text Alert which costs €6 annually. Many thanks to Donal Black of Blacks Nurseries who has put up another 4 Text Alert Signs on the North side of our village.

FARMERS MARKETS

Sonairte continues their Irish Farmers Market each Sunday starting at 11a.m. Join us each Sunday, to mix with the locals, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the wide range of stalls, while being amazed at how Organic producers mix well with interesting Irish crafts and Multicultural foods. Make it a day out for the whole family, everyone is welcome.

CHILDLINE VOLUNTEERS

The Louth/Meath branch of the ISPCC is recruiting for our Childline service and our next training course is due to start at the end of September. We recruit volunteers from all over the Louth and Meath area and are eager to add to our fantastic team. The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend an information evening (on one of a choice of evenings). This is an opportunity for people to come along and hear about the service, and what is involved in volunteering. They would also have a chance to hear from an already active volunteer. I have scheduled these for Monday 28th August, Tuesday 5thSeptember and Thursday 14th September. All sessions will begin at 6.30pm, and anyone interested is invited to attend. They will be held at our office here in Drogheda (Distillery House, Dyer Street, Drogheda, Co Louth). Anyone interested in attending one of the information evenings should contact me on 041-9809964 or dlambe@ispcc. ie to book a place.
