Heavy duty bollards installed to prevent joyriding in estate

-

Heavy duty bollards have been installed in Rathmullan Park in an attempt to stop the ongoing problem of ‘joyriding’ over the green area of the estate leading into a service road.

The issue has been an ongoing problem in the estate for a number of months and concerns have been raised that a serious accident was bound to happen.

The installation of the bollards has been welcomed by Councillor Paul Bell who said the heavy duty bollards, while ‘not pretty’ was an effective temporary solution to behaviour which is scourging the community.

‘I continue to work with the residents and intend to secure infill housing on the greenspace which is the constant focal point for dumping and setting fires which Louth Fire Service are constantly been called out to.’ He also confirmed that additional measures will be installed in both St Finian’s Park and Rathmullan Park.

‘ The next step will see ramping and traffic isles installed in areas where joyriding is constantly an issue and endangering residents,’ he said. ‘I note the improved focus and response of both the gardaí and council.’
