Happy Hour for Weavers as it takes top award
IT was certainly time for Happy Hour in The Weavers Bar and Venue last week as the venue scooped a top award for food at the 2017 Sky Bar of the Year Awards.
The popular local venue won the Bar Food Award at the prestigious event, which celebrates the outstanding work in the licensed trade throughout the country.
Those in attendance at the gala event representing The Weavers Bar and Venue included Nicole Donnellan, Sean Connroy, Shauna Smith, John McEnaney and Ciara Gunning.
Now in their 12th year, the Sky Bar of the Year Awards acknowledge the outstanding work in the licensed trade throughout the country. A team of judges travelled all over the island of Ireland to judge gin and whiskey bars, outside spaces and music venues for their best brew, crafty cocktails and straight up excellence in customer experience. Held at the Clayton Hotel on the Burlington Road, the 400 guests in attendance toasted the winners as excellence in the licensed trade was recognised across 25 drink, drink service and entertainment categories with over 100 finalists in contention.
Attendees were transported back to the 1920s with the ‘Prohibition’ theme carried throughout the night, with Film Fatale delivering a spectacular three piece 1920s band, burlesque and charleston dancers and completing the 1920’s vibe there were some favourite Prohibition cocktails.
New to 2017, the Sky Bar of the Year Awards and Licensing World were delighted to present the Tasting Village which showcased a variety of new and well established drinks, where guests enjoyed the opportunity to taste an array of local Irish and international brands.
Some of the many winners on the night included Tribeton in the Gin Bar category (sponsored by Drumshanbo Gundpowder Irish Gin / Dalcassian Wines & Spirits) and An Púcán for the overall Southern Comfort People’s Choice Award. Luke O’Meara from The Liquor Rooms took the title of the Bushmills Cocktail Bartender of the Year.
