The days of Shanks Mineral Water at the North Quay

When Denis Doherty, owner of Wogan Brothers company at the Mall started a re-paint job on his premises many years ago, he got a peep into the business past of the area.

When he cleaned off the Wogan name, he found a second name under it - W J Moran F.R.C.V.S.

His next door neighbour, Mr Austin Greene was intrigued. It appeared that the Wogan brothers, Andrew and Patrick, granduncles of Mr. Doherty took over the premises in 1900.

Previous to that the premises had been occupied by “Shanks Mineral Waters.” - but no-one around ever remembered hearing of a veterinary surgeon working there...
