Boot and shoe training scheme

Drogheda has been selected for a pilot training scheme for operatives in the boot and shoe industry and the local Vocational Education Committee has decided to facilitate the application recently made by the Irish National Productivity Committee in this connection.

The scheme will embrace both practical training in the manipulation of the machinery and equipment relevant to the industry, as well as general education for the operatives.

Referring to the scheme, Ald. P. Moore remarked that current trends indicated that more, and more demands would be made on the local Tech. School as local industries developed.
