Sports quiz to beat any in the City North for local charity

DO you have a sporting chance?

Drogheda based NGO, Developmen­t Perspectiv­es is hosting a Sports Quiz to raise funds for projects across Ireland.

The quiz, which will be held in the City North Hotel, Gormanstow­n on Thursday 21st September, will cover a wide variety of sporting topics. Only the true sporting genius’ will reign supreme! The event will begin at 7pm and the cost is €50 per table of four.

The event will be hosted by a celebrity compere and attended by several Internatio­nal sports stars

who will take part in an interactiv­e Question and Answers after the quiz has taken place. There will be a raffle and auction as part of the quiz and with nearly 400 people expected to take part, it promises to be a fantastic event.

Developmen­t Perspectiv­es is a Developmen­t Education NGO and registered charity (No. 18555) based in Drogheda, whose mission is to contribute to lessening poverty, inequality and climate change through transforma­tive education and active global citizenshi­p.

Since 2006, Developmen­t Perspectiv­es has grown to become a successful leading education NGO in Ireland. Their work explores, examines and acts upon a range of issues and challenges that face our world.

It is the first ever Comedy Festival taking place in Drogheda. Produced by a local voluntary committee, the 3 day event will take place in various locations around the town.

The theme of this year’s event is to raise awareness around men’s mental health and all proceeds will go to the Drogheda branch of The Samaritans.

The festival will culminate with a show at Droichead Arts Centre featuring one of Ireland’s top stand-up comics making a return to Drogheda after two sell out shows in 2016, Deirdre O Kane.

Deirdre is the star of the award-winning biopic Noble, as well as TV shows Moone Boy and Paths to Freedom. “She is accompanie­d by well-known comic Eleanor Tiernan with more special guests to be announced.
