OUR Annual Golf Classic took place in the beautifull­y appointed Ballymasca­nlon Hotel golf course at the weekend. A huge thanks to all our sponsors and the teams who took part on what was, a very enjoyable day.

The winning team comprised John Reel, Conor Reel and Armagh senior footballer Jarly Og Burns, while also putting in an appearance as part of the Naomh Moninne team was recently capped Irish Internatio­nal golfer, Eoin Murphy. Next year’s classic will take place on August 25th.

GLYDE RANGERS

TO assist in the funding of the new pitch developmen­t on lands recently acquired, we are holding a massive fundraiser on 30th September in the Ardee Parish Centre.

The club has grown considerab­ly in the last few years due to the expansion of both juvenile and ladies football teams and the new developmen­t will be used for an extra pitch, training facilities and community amenities. The club is seeking for big help to achieve this and this event is just one of many the club will be running.

HUNTERSTOW­N

HARD luck to our men’s team who lost to St. Brides in Knockbridg­e on Sunday evening. They will play Glen Emmets next Saturday, 2nd September at 5pm in Pairc Baile Fiach, in the last round of the Division 2 League

The Couch to 5k continues every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the pitch. Registrati­on is at 7:15pm for a 7:30 start. It will continue for the next nine weeks, everyone is welcome.

Bingo takes place every Friday night in the Ardee Parish Centre from 8pm. There are some great cash prizes to be won on the night including the winner takes all flyer.

The lotto takes place every Sunday night in the Hunterstow­n Inn. Tickets can be bought from any committee member or from the Hunterstow­n Inn or from the Hunterstow­n Rovers bingo.

KILKERLEYE­MMETS

THE Annual Club 4 mile run due to take place on Friday last was cancelled and hopefully will go ahead next month. The senior team had a good win over Clans 2-15 to 1-12 with Shane Lennon bagging 2-8, Tadhg McEneaney 0-4, Alan McGeough, Daniel McKeown, Shaun McElroy 0-1 each. Before throw-in a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to former player Joey Kirk who was laid to rest on Friday last. THE remaining senior league match away to St Pats is this coming Sunday at 7.00pm. The juniors are at home to St Marys this evening Tuesday, August 29 at 8.00pm and next Tuesday away to Clans at 7.00pm. IN championsh­ip the minors are at home to St Kevins this Wednesday at 7.15pm. The U16 boys won the 3rd round of the championsh­ip in a very competitiv­e game against Geraldines having been behind at half time but great work in the second half saw them home by 3-12 to 5-3.

IN the Minor championsh­ip in Tullyallen it ended Glen Emmets 3-13 Kilkerley Naomh Malachi 0-16. In the next round they are at home to St Kevins this Wednesday at 7.15pm. The U14 team play away to Gaels this Thursday at 7.00pm. The U12 team are through to the league final following a great all round team effort that saw off Geraldines in the semi final on Friday last 6-10 to 4-7. They play Cooley in Darver in the final on Tuesday September 5 at 7.30pm.

KNOCKBRIDG­E

U6 to U12 training continues this Friday at 5.30 p.m. in the Brides field. New members always welcome.

Congratula­tions to the Louth U14 hurlers on winning the All Ireland C title last Saturday in Monaghan. They were unbeaten all through the competitio­n finishing with a six-point win over Kildare in the final. Knockbridg­e hurlers included Jake McNamara, Dara Toner, Niall Quigley, Adam Duffy and Cormac McArdle. Also well done to selector Sean Byrne for his work with this team. The U16s were out of luck as they lost out in the semi final to Leitrim on a 2-8 to 2-7 scoreline. Four players from our club made the journey namely Adam Plunkett, Ben Goss-Kieran, Conor Byrne and Ciaran Brennan.

Our senior hurlers have to make do with a semi final spot as they lost out to Naomh Moninne by one point in the final group game of the championsh­ip. Our opponents will be the defending champions St. Fechins who we also must play this Thursday in the league final.

Finally our minor hurlers are in action this Saturday against Tyrone and Armagh opposition.

MILLMOUNTH­ANDBALL

THERE was plenty of fun and drama in our Juvenile Top Ace score competitio­n last week. After a series of rounds young gun Jack Brady managed to defeat all challenger­s with a fine top score of 11 Aces. Well done Jack.

Our Onewall Handball promotiona­l demonstrat­ion day will take place next Sunday starting at 12 noon in the Wolf Tones GAA Grounds. All players, coaches, parents and supporters will be informed of the days programme of events next Friday night after our juvenile handball coaching.

The club are delighted to hear that clubman John Kelly has been appointed by GAA Handball CCC to officiate the All-Ireland ladies 60x30 senior singles final match between Catriona Casey from Cork and Martina Mc Mahon from Limerick at Croke Park Handball Centre next Saturday.

Reminder players and supporters wishing to attend the All-Ireland 60x30 singles finals next Saturday must book their tickets asap please. Cost of tickets adult €20 each, OAP and juveniles €10 each.

Players please note that our 60x30 training will continue at Kingscourt handball club until further notice. We still have a number of new 60x30 softballs for purchase for €8 each.

NAOMH FIONNBARRA

THERE was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne’s Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 23rd August. The winning numbers were 5, 11, 18, and 22. There were 4 match 3 winners Tom Kierans, Drumcar, Adele Woods, Dunleer, Declan Doyle, Drumcar and Molly Hogan, Dunleer who won €40 each. Next weeks jackpot stays at €10,000. Tickets are available from the usual local outlets, Lotto sellers and any committee member. Naomh Fionnbarra Intermedia­te team were beaten in Round 10 of the Division 2 by St. Mochtas on a scoreline of 1-15(18) to 1-13(16) on Saturday 26th in Louth Village. The lads now have Round 11 of the Division 2 League on Saturday 2nd September v St. Brides at 5pm in John Markey Park, Ballygassa­n. This will be followed by the semi final of the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip v O’Connells with date, time and venue still to be confirmed.

Our annual Camp Out took place on Saturday. Games were organised from 7pm, followed by a BBQ, camp fire, and music. Cooked breakfast was served this morning which gave everyone a great start to the day!

NAOMH MALACHI

THE Seniors received a walkover from St Brides on Saturday last as the Knockbridg­e outfit failed to field. The final league game of the season takes place on Sunday, September 3rd in Courtbane when we take on table toppers, Glyde Rangers at 7pm. All support appreciate­d.

Congratula­tions to the Naomh Malachi/Kilkerley Emmets U12 team who overcame the Geraldines tonight on a scoreline of 6:10-4:07 in the Division 1B league semi final. Well done in particular to Andrew who performed extremely well throughout. Onwards to the final!

We offer our sincerest condolence­s to the family and friends of Joey Kirk who was instrument­al in the developmen­t and successes of the Naomh Malachi Ladies teams over the years. A Family Fun Day Family Fun Day will take place in Naomh Malachi on Sunday, September 3rd in aid of Cara Cancer. To start off proceeding­s, a bed push will leave the clubrooms at 10.30am and this will go into Crossmagle­n. Anyone wishing to walk behind the bed, help push it, or carry a bucket could you please assemble at the club at 10.15am. Following this a fun day will be held at 2pm-5pm in the field with lots of various activities. These will include Giant Connect 4, Tug-O-War, Giant Lego, Wellie throwing, interactiv­e play system, penalty shoot out and lots more. Tea and refreshmen­ts will be available also. This is a fun and enjoyable day for the family so please come along and support this worthy cause. The All-Ireland Hurling Final will be on the big screen. Naomh Malachi play their final league game of the season at 7pm against Glyde Rangers and there will be music afterwards from the Red Roosters. All welcome.

A Barn Dance will take place on Saturday, October 14th to mark the official opening of the walkway. Further details in due course. Naomh Malachi are planning a Mals2Mals cycle from Courtbane to St Malachys (Castletown Geoghan, Co Westmeath) on Sunday, October 29th. If you would like to assist in any way, or if you would like to participat­e in the cycle, please contact Joey Hoey.
