Under-17s make point
DROGHEDA UNITED SHELBOURNE 1 1
AFTER four heavy league defeats on the bounce, Drogheda United Under-17s showed a marked improvement when picking up a well-deserved point at home to Shelbourne last Saturday.
The Boynesiders welcomed back Derick Dunne at the back, and with Gavin Molloy and Cian Quinn also in situ the centre of defence looked assured and solid.
The two goals in the match both came in the 28th minute and it was the Drogs who opened the scoring when Callum McDonnell attacked the right flank and fed Karl Spooner. His brilliant cross beat the visiting defence and left Aaron McNally with an easy finish.
Unfortunately the Boynesiders lost concentration from the resultant kick-off and a speculative shot eluded keeper Daniel Murphy. DROGHEDA UTD: Daniel Murphy, Karl Spooner (Kian Hussey), Cian Quinn, Derick Dunne, Gavin Molloy, Frank Cabraley, Aaron McNally, Sean Peat (Stephen Doran), Callum McDonnell (Tom Adienka), Calum Leonard (Greg Akinsanya), Leo Tang (Michael McHugh).
