period Boyne manager Shane Gregory rang the changes, putting an extra man up top in the shape of recent acquisition Dowling and also bringing on Wilton on the flank. Even then, it took until the 78th minute before the Drogheda men dragged themselves back onto level terms.

Wilton, who was playing Division 3 football for Albion Rovers last season, took on the Kingscourt full-back and sent in a cross which was eventually finished to the net by the head of Dowling.

The home side pushed on in search of a winner and their pressure bore fruit with time almost up when Wilton roasted the Kingscourt defender again and whipped in a cross, and Dowling got between the centre-halves to touch the ball past the keeper.

It’s been some start to his Boyne Harps career for Dowling as he also scored their winning goal against OMP seven days before, but it’s been a real team effort and Austin McCann and particularly Danny Coyle were immense in last week’s victory.

BOYNE HARPS: Alan Sweeney, Darren McCann (Karl Dowling), Eoin Murdock (Richard Gibney), Mickey Matthews, Chris Culligan (Ricky Burke), Danny Coyle, Austin McCann, Tom Reilly (Alan Wilton), Kevin Walsh, James Traynor, Martin Kelly (Niall Levins).
