A GOOD WALK

-

Andrew got proceedings off in fine style hitting his drive straight down the fairway to show the rest of the 23 competitors the way. The course was in excellent condition even with the rain at the start.

The competition got off to an unusual start as ‘Buggy Bandits’ Paul Hughes and Joe Carroll were called back to the clubhouse after it emerged they had taken a member’s buggy instead of one the clubs buggys.

There was a great turnout for the big tournament of the year and the winner in category 1 was Chris Murden on 35 points with Joe Carroll in second place on 33 points. In category 2 the winner was Colm O’Hanrahan on 35 points with Noel McGill in second place on 32 points.

So the winner of the Captains Prize was David Murden on 37 points and our congratulations go out to him on his excellent win as he has been very consistent all year with the society.

The longest drive of the day was won by Paul Curran with Darren O’Brien collecting nearest the pin prize. The new Captain was announced on the night and the honour for 2018 goes to Micky Noone.

Our thanks go to Captain Andrew Lynch for the lovely food that was dished out later that evening after the presentation of the prizes in the Punters Bar. Also thanks to Paul Curran and Fives taxis for the safe transportation to and from the venue and to the bar staff of the Punters and to the caterers.

The next outing is for President Nigel Giff’s Prize which will be at Donabate Golf Club on Wednesday 13th September. Look forward to seeing another good attendance for that prize. FORE!
