SONAIRTE CLOSED
It is very sad to see that Sonairte, the local ecology centre has been closed due to very high insurance costs. This has been an oasis for many over the years and has given many children and adults an insight into nature and growing things; especially children coming from city areas and sadly there may be no going back for this local facility.
LAYTOWN RACES
The annual Laytown Strand Races will take place on Tuesday 5th September. The first race gets under way at 4.45pm until last race is at 7.15pm approx. Laytown races occupies a unique position in the Irish and English racing calendar as it is the only race event run on a beach under the rules of the Turf Club.
CHILDLINE VOLUNTEERS
The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend an information evening (on one of a choice of evenings). This is an opportunity for people to come along and hear about the service, and what is involved in volunteering. They would also have a chance to hear from an already active volunteer.
I have scheduled these for Tuesday 5th September and Thursday 14th September. All sessions will begin at 6.30pm, and anyone interested is invited to attend. They will be held at our office here in Drogheda (Distillery House, Dyer Street, Drogheda, Co Louth).
Anyone interested in attending one of the information evenings should contact me on 0419809964 or dlambe@ispcc.ie to book a place.
