Beach volleyball introductory event at Bettystown beach

-

Local Fine Gael Councillor, Sharon Tolan has welcomed the decision by Beach Volleyball Ireland to host an Introductory Event on Bettystown beach this September.

Cllr Tolan, together with colleague Cllr Eimear Ferguson met with representatives, Miriam Gormally and Marie- Claire Sabogal who are this year’s Women’s Cup Winners, to organise the event.

‘I am really excited to bring Beach Volleyball Ireland to Bettystown,’ she said.

‘Our beautiful beaches are such a wonderful amenity to have, and I think it’s so important that we introduce as many activities as possible to our community to enjoy on the beach.

‘ The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 9th and 10th of September, and will see Beach Volleyball Ireland host their Kings and Queens Competitions. These are the best of the best in the sport in this country and I hope many people will come along to watch and support the event. Both Eimear and I are also supporting a Training Net, which will allow members of the public have a go and experience some very valuable coaching from a professional.’

She called on people in the area to come along on either or both days, and encouraged any young people to come out also.

‘It will be a nice start to the week-long European Sandyachting Championships. The place to be is East Meath beaches at the moment!’ she added.
