Kevin’s take the derby spoils

WITH both sides sure of a place in the play-offs ahead of this game on Sunday night at Philipstow­n there was little to play for except local pride.

In the end it was the Kevins who earned the bragging rights as the recorded a convincing 15-point victory over neighbours Lannleire.

The pattern for the game was establishe­d early on with the home side enjoying a greater share of possession which saw them create numerous chances. Some well taken scores saw them go into the break with a 0-11 to 0-4 lead.

The Kevins continued to dominate after the break and Aidan Craven grabbed two goals to extend his side’s advantage.

Despite Colin Murphy contributi­ng five points overall, Lannleire could only manage to add four points to their tally and in the final minute Cian Callan put the seal on victory when he scored his side’s third goal of the game.

St Kevins will now face Roche Emmets in the promotion semi-final, while Lannleire will face Na Piarsaigh.
