St Kevin’s Mattock Rangers 7-5 0-1

ST KEVIN’S completed an impressive camogie league and championship double with a stunning dismissal of Mattock Rangers at Knockbridge on Saturday night.

Conditions and the playing surface were pefect for an eagerly awaited contest and Kevin’s seized the initiative from the off when Donna King netted in the first minute.

After that initial shock Mattock settled down and both teams gave their all in a keenly contested first quarter.

Mat- few tock had a opportunities, but just when they appeared to settling into the game, St Kevins hit them with four excellent points from Aoife Gregory (2), Caoimhe Matthews and Eleanor Smythand a super goal from Aoife Gregory just before the break.

With Mattock’s Jane McKeon well marked by Paula Murray, Kevin’s were full value for their half-time lead.

Collon came out for the second half all fired up, but two quick Kevin’s goals from Caoimhe Matthews and Alanna Dowling put the issue beyond all doubt.

Jane McKeon did break Mattock’s duck with a point on 40 minutes, but Kevin’s showed their class again by replying with 3-1 unanswered.

In the end Kevin’s showed they are worthy champions, but Collon never managed to show off their undoubted ability.
