LOCAL Fit Kids/Fit Teens Dance Club returned victorious from The World Street Dance Championships 2017 in Glasgow.

After all the hard work not only was Jordan Nguyen crowned World Street Dance Champion 2017 in the Intermediate category but Onai Tafuma from Shrewsbury Manor was ranked sixth in the world for Adult Advanced Solos. The 18-year-old has been dancing with the club since she was seven years old and has represented Ireland in many international events. ‘It was a surreal feeling competing at such big competition with such a high standard and actually seeing your hard work pay off,’ she said. ‘Being able to dance with my Fit Kids/ Fit Teens family and having them there to support me was definitely one of the highlights. As school we really push each other to be at the top of our game and love each other unconditionally so placing with them all by my side was a magical feeling”.

Tomi Akingba from Fountain Hill and Sidas Bagavicius from Grange Rath were ranked fourth for Adult Duos. Tomi (16yrs)said he was “Thrilled and blessed to bring a trophy home and represent our country. It was a brilliant feeling and I still can’t believe it.”

Aine Carolan from Tullyallen and her partner Hanna Krzywda were ranked fifth in their age group while Anthony Rattigan and and Beko Mguga were also finalists. In the Crew section both CAUTION CREW(under 10yrs) and KEEP IT LIT(under 16yrs) also achieved Finalist awards. Many of these dancers are from East Meath and Drogheda. Their Battle Crew also made it to the top four in the world so they were thrilled.
