‘Ladies from three counties reached the final of the Carnival Queen competitio­n held in conjunctio­n with the recent carnival in aid of St. Peter’s Parochial Building Fund, Drogheda. The winner was Miss Rose Murray, Beechgrove Lodge, Drogheda, who was “crowned” by Mrs. Fred Hoey, Laytown, and who received the cup from Miss Molly O’Kane. Fair St., Drogheda. Miss Pat. Duggan, of Red Island, Skerries, was second while Miss Doreen Owens, Duleek, was third.
