Improve signage

-

A call has been made for the council to improve the new signage around Francis Street and Scarlet Street following the changes to traffic flow introduced with the closure of Laurence Gate.

Speaking at the September meeting of Drogheda Municipal District, Councillor Frank Godfrey said there had been traffic chaos in the areas around Francis Street, the Chord Road and Scarlet Street since the changes were introduced with people driving the wrong way and a number of near misses.

‘We need improved signage in these areas to avoid any potential accidents in these areas, it is very dangerous,’ he said.

However, a spokesperson for the council said all the signage put in place following changes to the road layout meets with statutory requirements. ‘We can’t put up signage that’s bigger than the requirements,’ she said.
