Eamonn’s long walk from Austria to County Armagh

-

PASSING through Drogheda and Ardee this week was a man who embarked on ‘’ The

Long Walk Home.’’

That was the title of Eamonn Donnelly’s trek from

Austria to his native Co Armagh.

The 1,500-mile walk was undertaken by Eamonn in support of Alzheimer sufferers, his own mother having passed away after a two-year illness.

He completed the 86day walk to his home village of Keady, Co Armagh over the weekend from his adopted Austrian home in

Graz, where he is a teacher of English.

Eamonn expects to have about €10,000 to show from his fund-raising marathon which began in the month of June.

He plans to divide the money between Alzheimer organisations in Ireland, north and south, as well as in Austria.

‘’I have felt a special affinity with people working to help Alzheimer sufferers ever since my mother passed away, ‘’ said Eamonn (50). ‘’ They do fantastic work for sufferers and their families and I wanted to make my own contribution.’
