- Dundalk Gaels celebrate their Division 4 success last Tuesday night.

CUCHULAINN GAELS

LAST week’s lotto numbers were 7, 16, 26, 30. The two match-3 winners were M & S Jones, F.Elmore. The jackpot is €20000 with a reserve of €9,600,. This Wednesday’s draw is in Howes. We are delighted to announce that the MyClubFinances.com app has just been released. UNFORTUNATELY there was no Luck for our fantastic under 12s in their Division final last Monday nite. They were a bit slow out of the blocks and trailed at half time 1-4 to 2pts but gathered pace in the second half. They got to within a point and held the martins to 3pts in the second half in total. Unfortunately the guys couldn’t do it and on the last kick of the game the martins scored another point. We lost by 2pts on a score line of 1-7 to 1-5. This is fantastic if you consider the last time we played them we lost by 9pts and they have scored an average of 4 goals and 14 points per game throughout the year - we held them to 3pts in the second half. Thank you to both the management and players for the privilege of watching some first class football throughout the year.

The ladies went in as underdogs but showed yet again that they can battle with the best of them.

In the Beko Club Bua Award, Glen Emmets received lots of new gear this week in the form of bibs and balls, after being selected as one of nine GAA clubs who were successful in the awards in July. The Bua Award recognises clubs who are adhering to best practice on and off the field as a GAA club leading the way. Thanks to our club secretary Mary McCabe who was instrumental in us securing this award.

Kilkerley/Dowdallshill ladies qualified for the Intermediate Championship final after a hard fought 2-12 to 2-7 win over Naomh Martin/Glen Emmets combination in a wet and windy Tallanstown on Sunday morning. Despite playing against a strong breeze Kilhill started brightly with points from Rachel McNally, Emma Singleton and Leah Hoey, but had a goal overruled which followed by the Martin’s/Glen Emmets braking upfield and hitting the net twice to put them 2-6 to 0-5 points up at half time.

Killhill hit a quick fire point followed by a goal early in the second half cutting the deficit to a single point and took complete control with Emma Singleton and Claire Lennon ruling midfield and the forwards starting to find their range along with the defence sniffing out any attack that came their way. This solid team performance sets them up for the final next Sunday in Tallanstown against St Fechins.. Plenty of support will be appreciated.

KNOCKBRIDGE

TRAINING continues this Friday in the Brides field at 5.30 p.m. for all players up to U.11

Last week was one of the busiest ever for our club. A depleted U.13 team lost 5-7 to 1-4 to St. Fechins in the league semi-final. The clash of this fixture with U.12 football meant we were short some key players on the night. On Thursday our U.16 hurlers opened their championship campaign with a comfortable 4-17 to 3-4 win over a Mattock/St.Kevins side. On Saturday the same team won one and lost one in the last round of the South Ulster league. We defeated Ballymachugh of Cavan 5-7 to 1-4 while we lost to St.Fechins on a 2-10 to 0-8 scoreline. This was our only loss to date ensuring our place in the league semi-final.

Our U.6 and U.8 hurlets made the short trip to Inniskeen for a very enjoyable blitz while our U.12’s took part in the annual O’Broin shield. After a slow start our young team saved their best performance for the B final against hosts St.Fechins. Two periods of extra time failed to separate these two teams so it was decided to share the shield. The final score was 4-1 each. Well done to all who played and to mentors Seamus Cahill,Seamus Cappalis and Dermot Plunkett.

Finally our Senior hurlers exited the championship as they lost out to defending champions St.Fechins on a 1-14 to 1-12 scoreline. The final game of the season is a tain league decider against Donegal opposition.

This Thursday our U.16 hurlers are in action against St.Fechins in the championship while our minor hurlers are out Saturday in the latest round of the South Ulster league.
