Amazing fightback in vain for Syddan

-

OLDCASTLE SYDDAN 2-18 2-10

SYDDAN staged a sensational late revival before running out of steam in extra time of this Junior C FC quarter-final at Moynalty on Sunday.

Oldcastle led by five points with time almost up, but a goal from Philip White and points from Robbie Farrelly and Dylan Smyth in the space of two minutes forced the game to extra time.

Conor Dillon pointed Syddan ahead in the opening minute of additional time, but they failed to score again as Oldcastle hit 1-6 without reply to book a lastfour spot.

Boosted by a goal from Farrelly, Syddan led 1-5 to 0-4 at half-time of normal time.

Oldcastle were level by the 42nd minute and two goals in quick succession in the final quarter left them with a comfortable lead before Syddan hit back to force an additional 20 minutes.
